Customize your Adidas shoes

Have you been looking for shoes that perfectly match that sports top? Or shoes in that one colour that you can’t find in any store? Create them yourself! Adidas enables you to create your own Mi Adidas shoes, of which you can choose all the different colours. And the huge advantage: it’s not that expensive. Here’s how I experienced customizing my own Adidas shoes.

When I decided I needed a new pair of (fashionable) running shoes, I went to the Adidas website and saw these Duramo 6 shoes, which I already liked in their standard look. Then I noticed a button saying ‘customise’. With my dream pair of black running shoes with coral accents in the back of my mind, I got down and dirty customizing. The result is completely what I hoped for! On the  right you see the virtual shoe and on the left the result. Pretty cool huh?

Customizing your dream pair

There are many pros to customizing your own Adidas shoe. Most importantly, you get to choose your own colours and create the shoe you have been looking for. But next to that, I found my Duramo 6 shoes perfect for running and exercising – they run heavenly. Furthermore, you get two pairs of laces so you can replace them once in a while. And all this for about 20 euros extra on the price! My Duramo 6 shoes were originally 60 euros, and my customized version cost 80 euros. Perfect!

Of course there are some (slight) disadvantages: it takes a while before you get them. These shoes are being made only for you, so don’t expect them to be delivered within a week. I had to wait about 4-6 weeks before I got them, but I’m glad I did, because it was worth it! A disadvantage I luckily did not encounter is the fact that you cannot return them. As I said, they are being made only for you, so returning them is not an option. So be certain that you love your masterpiece, because once they are yours, they are yours forever. (Sounds scary, doesn’t it?)

So how does it work? Well, it’s fairly easy: you look for a shoe model that you like. Then check whether there is a ‘customise’ button at the right side, and it will lead you through the process! Easy peasy right? Happy customizing!

Fleuril Actief & Sport laundry detergent

One month ago, I participated in the Ladies Run in Rotterdam. At this event, I was overloaded with samples of the Fleuril Actief & Sport laundry detergent. So, I decided to try this stuff out.

What is Fleuril Actief & Sport laundry detergent?

Fleuril is a new product of the Fleuril laundry detergent line. It is a special laundry detergent specifically designed for sports clothes. They claim to neutralize unpleasant odors and to give your laundry a longlasting fresh odor. Moreover, the detergent claims that the treatment of the membrane in the laundry detergent causes that breathing, wind – and waterproof features of the fabrics are protected. This sounds like the perfect laundry detergent for your beautiful sport clothes. But is this really the case?

What happened?

I can honestly say that my sport clothes smelled more fresh than normally. Of course I don’t know if the laundry detergent does not affect the specialities of the sports fabrics, but I do know that it smelled better. It’s nice that this is the case, but I’m not sure if I would buy another kind of laundry detergent specifically for my sports clothes if the only noticeable difference would be the smell.

Have you ever tried Fleuril Actief & Sport laundry detergent for your sports clothes?

OOTD: The casual sweats

In our last OOTD I showed you my happy kicks (SO happy with this sneaker trend!). Now, I have to show you my latest comfy crush: the Nike Tech Pack. I always say that sweat pants are made for exercise, but are used for the exact opposite. We jumped, bent and danced.. these sweats are the real deal! Scroll down to check out the latest look.

Outfit Aranka:

tech fleece pants grey

These pants are my all time favorite. I also have one in black.. although probably Chris is going to steal them. You need a good pair of sweats, you can dress them up with a blazer when going out for a drink drinks and still use them when going to the gym. They are super comfortable with a low crotch for a casual (badass) fit.

pegasus pink

I absolutely love these pink shoes from Nike. They bright up my outfit anyday! I always wear them when I’m wearing a casual outfit. See one of my latest articles (chick on kicks) about how to wear these pinkies after a work-out.

This jacket is also from Nike Tech Pack, matching the pants. The jacket traps body heath and this will create warmth. Moreover, the jacket is light weight. This means that these jackets are ideal for exercising outside!

Sport bra’s, you can never have enough. I love the color and the comfortableness of this bra.

Outfit Chris:

Chris is wearing my all time favorites in black. These pants are perfect, I have nothing more to add.

If you’re looking for a comfortable sneaker to wear every day, I would definitely recommend this pair. These are from the children’s line, but Nike has many colors for ‘normal’ people as well 😉GRATIS WATERFLES

Chris is matching this comfortable blue sports bra perfectly with her blue shoes. Chris has too many sports bra’s 🙂

Looking cool on sneakers: Nike Air Max

Nike Air Max shoes are back in style! After a long way from home, these sneakers have made its appearance back into the fashion world. I have found some of the coolest models from the Air Max Collection!

Almost every girls loves pink. These neon pink Nike Air Max’s are perfect when you want to wear sneakers to get a cool look, but at the same time, want to look girly.

If you are looking for a pair of sneakers that are more easy to combine, you can check out this pair! These Nikes are not so bright, but they still look very nice 🙂

If you’re a colorful type, you will love this neon blue and green pair of Nike Air Max. The logo in gold makes the shoe look awesome.

If you are a colorful type, but not as much as the previous shoe, you might like these. It has some neon yellow in the design but some gray as well that you can combine with everything.

However, what I think it the coolest one of all is that you are able to customize your own Nike Air Max!! Isn’t it cool that you can personalize it to a shoe that no one has!

What do you think of Nike Air Max? Do you either love it or hate it?

Sale, sale, sale!

Attention to all Fit Girls, it’s time for sale! I would say you can never have enough sport outfits. Therefore, I’ve searched for products on the internet and made a list of the products that I really like and are on sale!

I am absolutely in love with this sporty tanktop. This top from Puma is definitely not boring and will certainly brighten your day. This top is now 20% off!

A sports bra is one of the most important items to have when you are working out. You can never have enough! This girly but still tough kinda looking model from Nike will make you feel powerful underneath your work out clothes.

This blue sporting pants from Nike is nice for summery work outs when it’s still a tad cold outside. It has a nice baby blue color that will definitely motivate you to do more sports. Especially when you see the discount this website has to offer. I like!

Need new shoes? I prefer to buy my shoes on sale, because this will save me a lot of money, especially when they are from a specific brand. I found this beautiful shoe from Nike that is on sale with a 40€ discount!!

Last but not least, tops! This t-shirt from Venice Beach has a wide fit and is therefore perfect for working out or a lazy day on the couch.

What about you? Do you often buy clothes when they are on sale?

Trouble in paradise: bikini stress

Bikini season is almost around the corner and you obviously want a beautiful bikini that boosts your body shape. However, what to wear when you have big boobs or if you are insecure about your belly? These questions pop-up every summer and it’s time to get some answers!

#1. Big boobs. For girls who have quite some boobs, one word should always be kept in mind: support. Bikinis that have under wiring will help you get that support and that extra lift that bandeau bikinis will not provide. A lot of nice bikinis can be found that have under wire in their top pieces. Moreover, always make sure that you find a shop that sells bikini tops and bottoms separately since you often need different sizes. Personally, I love this bikini from ASOS.

#2. Small boobs. Bandeau bikinis, triangle bikinis, every bikini fits girls who have small boobs. However, some girls are insecure about their small boobs and would love to have a size bigger. To add some extra volume, you can choose for a bikini with frenzies that makes your boobs look bigger in an optical way. And if you still don’t like this, you can always go for a bikini with a push-up effect. This bikini from Forever21 matches the festival trend for this summer and is perfect for a lazy day on the beach.

#3. Belly. If you are feeling uncomfortable about your belly, try bikinis that hide your tummy. These bikinis will slim down your figure while maintaining your feminine shapes. High waistbands are the ideal solution for this. This neon pink bikini from Forever21 is absolutely stunning! Also, I love that they are using a plus-size model and have a special plus-size clothing line!

#4. Thighs (full hips). If you have full hips, try to find a top piece with a nice print that attracts attention to the upper part of your body. Moreover, try to avoid bikini bottoms that have bow ties on the side, because these will make your hips look wider. What works best are classic bikinis that have high cut bottoms, but you can also go for a bikini that has a skirted bottom in a solid color . This bikini bottom from ASOS has a nice black color and covers up perfectly.

Adidas Ultimate Fit Legging

My first running tights were the Ultimate Fit Legging from Adidas, and after using them for 3 months now, I decided I should write a review about it. When I buy sportswear, I always think hard about the quality and look up experiences of others to see if the leggings don’t start sagging or lose color after washing them once. Besides, the price should also be reasonable, after all, I’m still a student! So here we go, the pros and cons of these printed babies of Adidas.

First of all, I love the print! That’s really what I was looking for – not one of those boring, all-black tights, but a print that stands out and you wouldn’t mind being seen in. I had one of those really ugly, old training trousers which I didn’t dare to wear outside of my comfy home, so when I took up running again and started working out at a gym, I decided it was time to buy myself a pretty one. Adidas also has the same one in a different color, but black/grey/white is easy to combine with colorful shoes or tops. After three months I still love the print!

These tights are 45 euro, so that’s kinda cheap compared to some of the tights I have seen! Still, they are more expensive than H&M so I assumed the quality would be somewhat higher as well. As a student, I am pleased with the price.

Although I initially didn’t like the fact that I was ordering it online (so I didn’t have a chance to try them on before I got them), my doubts immediately faded when I first put them on. It fits me perfectly! The waistband is at the right height so your muffin top gets flattened and the length is great – it goes down till your ankles.

The Ultimate Fit Legging has a hidden pocket on the side in which I can keep my key whenever I go running, so brownie points for that, Adidas! I must say that the print is fading a bit after 3 months of washing. I have been a good girl and followed the washing instructions, but still you can see that it’s starting to look a little bit used. On the other hand, I have used it extensively, so can I really blame the quality? And it hasn’t started sagging yet, so I really shouldn’t complain at all.

All in all, I am very happy with my purchase! The fit and looks are great and the price-quality ratio even better. I’d definitely recommend the Ultimate Fit Legging to you fit girls.

Are fitness bracelets for you?

I have been wondering about fitness bracelets for a while now, especially since there are plenty of choices out there to choose from. Would using one really add something new to my journey and help me reach my goals? Until recently I have only used Nike + on my phone to track my running performances and that’s pretty much it! Luckily thanks to my awesome colleagues from my last internship I received my first fitness bracelet Fitbit Flex and I have now been using it for the last month. I was looking forward to this new experience, learn all about this new gadget and share my personal experience and opinion with all of you! So let’s start!

What is Fitbit Flex?

Fitbit Flex is a wristband that can track the number of steps you have taken, distance travelled, calories burned and active minutes you had during the day. Additionally, you can even track your sleeping pattern during the night. Sounds pretty great doesn’t it?

fit bit flex

How does it work?

Basically, you need to download the free Fitbit application on your computer and cellphone  (iPhone and android). In this application you can set a personal goal, such as an amount of steps per day or an amount of calories burned. You do need to wear it all day and all night long and yes it is waterproof! The bracelet itself has 5 led lights indicating you how close you are to achieving your daily goal. The moment you do reach your set goal the bracelet will vibrate and its light will illuminate to indicate your achievement!

And how can just a bracelet track so many things?

With your movements Fitbit Flex keeps track of the number of steps you do as well as how much you move during your sleep. However, to calculate your intake of calories you need to add yourself the calories of everything you eat into the application on your devices. A nice aspect of Fitbit bracelet is that it pairs wirelessly to your phone and computer enabling you to have all the time an updated dashboard with all your statistics.

Top five must follow blogs

There are so many awesome blogs out there, which ones should you follow? I’m a bit new to Bloglovin (I know, I should be ashamed of myself), so I am not following a lot of blogs yet. However, I do have some favorites already! They range from fitness to fashion, from food to feel good. Check out my top 5 of must follow blogs at the moment!

  1. Anne Solveig
Besides the fact that her blog is awesome, Anne is a really sweet girl! I’ve talked to her personally recently, and that makes her blog feel even more personal than it already is. This 21-year-old Dutchie blogs about fitness, food, fashion, make-up, city trips, and personal stuff. These topics are all balanced out and provide you with more than enough reading material. It is a light and easy read and is perfect to wake up with in the morning, so do check her out! Unfortunately you need to understand Dutch to read it (sorry international fit girls!).
  2. Fashercise
Fashercise is the work of Alex and Camille, two Belgian best friends living in London. They post about a wide range of topics and believe that fashion and exercise should and can be combined. And wouldn’t we all like to look pretty while sweating like a pig? And if this isn’t enough already, they also discuss food, music, beauty & wellness, and gadget, with a dish of humor served on the side. Check out this blogpost, one of my favorites!
  3. Georgina Poh
Georgina is so cute! She has a great sense of style and many inspiring work out ideas. Her food pictures make me think of the couple of months I spent in China and make me want to go back there! Ah well, I’ll just have to drewl over her food pictures, unless someone would like to sponsor a trip? (big puppy eyes)
  4. Food and Lycra
The girls from Food & Lycra look like so much fun. Just by taking a look at their blog, you see how much they are enjoying their fit journey together. They are the best example of why you should have a BFFF (Best Fit Friend Forever)! Laura, Kim and Rachel blog about fitness, but also about food and fashion. What’s not to like?
  5. Follow Fashion
I am not very good at spotting the first fashion trends and I don’t have super-awesome-pretty-stunning-fashionable clothes, but I do the best I can with the budget I have. Follow Fashion basically updates me on all the new trends so I get some inspiration for new outfits or how to combine that one shirt I have never been able to combine so far. They also blog about fitness, health and lifestyle, so definitely a must-follow. It is in Dutch though, but you can still go there for fashion inspiration even if you don’t understand the language.

Do you have any blogs for me that I should definitely follow? I would like some more to add to my Bloglovin feed!

Vegan Fashion Trend

From pleather trousers to faux fur coats, vegan fashion has been on the rise for a while now. We are so happy with this trend. Materials these days are almost impossible to tell apart from leather both in quality and fashion.

Vegan Fashion Trend

Rising star Denise Roobol agrees and decided to act upon this trend. This young bag designer from Rotterdam recently launched a bag collection under her own name, taking a statement with high-tech faux leather materials. And we are in love!

denise roobol 2

The Dutch Stella McCartney
We all remember when Stella McCartney made her statement by producing one of the most expensive non-leather bag collection ever. Placing herself between Marc Jacobs and Balenciaga, she made us realize that there was more to a luxury item than just the fines leather. Denise Roobol has been called the Dutch Stella McCartney which makes us proud, hopefully she made the way for many more companies to follow her in the vegan trend. Because we all know who the real fashion victims are!

Are you curious to see the entire collection, visit the webshop. For our Dutch readers, Denise herself will be displaying her bags during the Ladies Run in Rotterdam at the ladies fair. Also, team Fitgirlcode will be running the 5km and 10km. You can recognize us by our fitgirlcode bag and tees. Please come and say hello!

A chick’s best workout partner: the sports bra

Patterned, plain, strappy, basic, padded, seamless or not, sports bras are a girl’s best friend when it comes to working out! Either you’re proudly rocking an A cup or struggling to keep your double D’s in place while pumping that iron, your most loyal support(er) will be right there, working hard with you. This is a pretty important job so a lot of thought usually goes into picking the best one!

The hunt for the perfect bra
There are many things to consider when you go on a hunt for the sports bra that perfectly matches your needs. It has to be comfortable and well fitted, fashionable, good quality material, pretty and durable and within your budget range. All in all it has to fulfill lots of criteria to end up being the ‘lucky one’ you pick. And I know I’m picky – but hey, you don’t have to limit your options to just one!

After some girl talk with the Fitgirlcode chicks, I ended up with some very useful feedback on their fave sports bra that will knock out some of the myths, but also help you chose which type is the perfect one for you!

1.  A couple of the fit girls have bought and tested HEMA sports bras and they have news for you. They are great! If you’re not planning on splurging this month’s budget on a bra, this is a great choice for you. They fit perfectly and last well over time! And I really like this pastel turquoise one:

hema top

2. Speaking of affordable and fashionable, we’ve also tried out some really cute looking ones from H&M, and let me tell you something, they don’t just look nice and are wallet friendly! These babies will support you when you need it most & you’ll look fabulous while you’re at it. Check out some of my faves!

A chick’s best workout partner: the sports bra

3. A personal favourite that provides me with good support but also a good ‘push’ is the next one from Hunkemöller. It’s within a medium price range and it’s so PINK! When mother nature hasn’t endowed you with big boobs you have to work with what you’ve got as well as focus on other hum…assets.

4.  Let’s talk hot shots! We all know a good sports brand when we see one & these are some of my fave pieces from Adidas! I’ve discovered them while online shopping for shoes and they are in the top 10 of my wish list!

5. Last but not least, the unanimous favourite and ‘must have’ of sports bras, the ultimate work out partner to keep everything in place, the one, the only – Nike  We love them because of quality, comfort and sharp looks. Here are some of my picks for the summer:

What qualities are you looking for in a sports bra? Let us know your favourite picks and why you love them!

Cellulite and how to deal with it

It’s almost sunny bikini season and I’m far from ready for it! My legs haven’t seen the sun in what feels like ages and in my head I somehow think I can just jump in a bikini and hit the beach! I mean, it’s not like I indulged in cheat meals over Easter or anything…

So a couple of days ago I tried on one of those white bikinis from the new Giselle Bündchen H&M collection and, at a closer look in the mirror, there it was, my worst enemy, my greatest fear, the destroyer of confidence – Cellulite – *GASP*!!!

Immediate action must be taken, so I went home and did my research, which turned out to be very fruitful and useful in dealing with that pesky thing that’s just so hard to get rid off! Needless to say there were dozens of myths and misconceptions to weed out but also a ton of information that turned out to be quite useful! I’m going to share all my newly acquired knowledge and experience with you!

What I really want to make clear: NO SHAME – all women can get it. No matter if you’re skinny or struttin’ some curves, this evil enemy can still get under your skin (pun intended). There are several reasons why this can happen, among which poor nutrition, fad dieting, slow metabolism, hormone changes, lack of physical activity and even dehydration (note to self: drink more water).

First things first: What is cellulite?

Cellulite is a persistent type of fat, that gathers under your skin, especially in the areas of the hips and thighs, and causes a dimpled, lumpy appearance. This can vary from an ‘orange peel’ look all the way to ‘cottage cheese’. Most of us have it and we all hate it, which is why you’re not going to like the next bit.

It’s hereditary! Why thank you, dear genes! This means that certain genes like gender, race, slow metabolism or circulatory insufficiency can predispose you to developing unwanted adipose tissue. Moreover, hormones apparently have a say in this too, especially insulin, noradrenaline (enables the body to perform well in stressful situations), and thyroid hormones. You can prevent it though – Just stay away from refined and processed foods, SUGAR, dairy and all kinds of fatty products.

Cellulite and how to deal with it

Good news is you CAN get rid of it, BUT it takes time and perseverance…

  • Most importantly – EXERCISE – Make sure you get a lot of blood flow into those areas! It will make you feel good and look good. Cellulite can also be caused by muscular atrophy, a condition that occurs when a layer of muscle becomes weak, undefined and separates from the skin, which is why exercise is so important! Oh! Spice up your life (and food), that helps burn calories & increase blood flow!
  • Scrub Up – massaging your thighs using scrub can stimulate micro circulation, will make your skin look smoother and you’ll benefit from a bonus arm workout in the shower. Make sure you use circular movements, from bottom to top, guiding the blood flow towards your heart. One of my favorites is the Blueberry Body Scrub Jelly from Bodyshop. You can even make your own by mixing 1tbsp of used ground coffee, 1tbsp of coconut oil, 1tbsp of brown sugar and a dash of cinnamon.
  • You can also use one of these handy massagers to do the job ( you don’t wanna scrub off all your skin layers ). Use this baby to massage your target areas every time you hit the shower – yeah it won’t work overnight!
  • Creams DO help! They rehydrate your skin and help it gain more elasticity after working out. Look for one that also contains caffeine or Gingko Biloba – a substance that oxidises fat cells and strengthens your veins to improve blood circulation! It also increases your ability to remember things! Not bad, huh?!

Well, now you know what to do, go on, get one step closer to your perfect thighs! What are your super secret tips on dealing with this confidence crusher ?

Turn in your old clothes for discount

“Don’t let fashion become garbage”. That’s the slogan of H&M Conscious. Every year, thousands of kilos of textile end up in the garbage, while at least 95% can be re-used. H&M wants to decrease the impact the fashion industry has on the environment and therefore launched an initiative to collect old clothes with the goal of using them for a new purpose.

Turn in your old clothes for discount

You can hand in any of your old clothing and give them a second life – even if it’s ripped, torn, or just extremely 2006 ;). It does not have to be H&M clothing, but it can be of any brand. Everything will be sorted and used for either of these four purposes:

  • Second-hand sales. Those lovely jeans that you don’t fit in anymore (either because you’ve gained muscle or you’ve shrunken a size) can be worn and loved by someone else!
  • Recycling. Your favorite but worn-out top will live a second life as textile fiber or could be used to produce other products like isolating material for the car industry.
  • Re-using. Sometimes your not-so-fashionable-anymore babies can be processed into other products, like cleaning cloths.
  • Producing energy. If all of the above are not an option for the batch you’ve turned in, it will be used to produce energy with.

So what’s in this for you except for the karma points? You get a discount of 15% on your next purchase for every full bag of clothes you turn in. At the moment, every H&M store in the Netherlands is participating, and more and more stores abroad are joining since the fall of 2013.

Personally, I love this initiative and I’m going there today to turn in a big full bag of old clothes. More space in my closet, giving them a new life ánd getting a discount on that sport top I’ve been wanting for a while!
