How to turn around your lazy day
Hi girls! Today I'd like to give you some tips on how to turn around your lazy day. There's nothing wrong with a lazy day, but sometimes you just wanna get up and stick to your fitness routine. I'll tell you how I turned around my lazy day last week!
Last week I was laying on the couch, eating cookies with peanutbutter and dreading the thought of going to the gym, or eating something healthy. Even though I had a healthy day planned, with lots of healthy food and a running workout!
After an afternoon nap (sugar makes you sleepy, right?), I kinda got fed up with this day. What was I gonna do? Wrap myself in a blanket and watch Netflix all night? Ordering pizza and feel bad afterwards, because I wasted the entire day doing nothing and eating crap? Inspired by the Cut The Crap Challenge of Shelley, I decided to take a turn! Here's my guide to turning around a lazy day. If I can do it, you most certainly can too!
Good luck!
The key to this guide is: Just roll with it! Take it one step at a time.
Step 1: Acceptance. This is super important. Accept the fact that to this point, your day hasn't gone according to plan. You ate the cookies, you skipped your 10AM workout, whatever. What's done, is done. Don't feel guilty anymore and get ready for a fresh start.
Step 2: Put on your gym clothes and shoes. Tie up your hair. Even though you reeeeaaaally don't feel like training, getting all geared up definitely makes a difference. Believe me!
Step 3: Put on some fun music. As long as it's up-tempo, you're good!
Step 4: Dance for one minute. Yes! Dance! It wil get your body activated. Just try it! On my lazy day, I started dancing to Keisza - Hideaway and it really got me in an active mood! After my dance I didn't feel like lying on the couch for the entire night any more.
Go to page 2 for the second part of my guide and the story of the rest of my lazy day.
Step 5: Pick an active chore for 15 minutes. With the music still on, in your gym outfit! Do some laundry, cleaning , whatever that needs to be done. Throw away those leftover cookies, while you're at it ;-)
Step 6: Meanwhile, do some thinking. Think about why you started taking better care of your body. Think of how far you've come. Take a look at an old picture of yourself to see your progress. Think about your fitness goal, if you have one.
Step 7: Okay. Now it's time to get moving. Pick your favorite workout and keep it simple. Just go. GO! Even if it's for just 30 minutes. You'll feel great afterwards. Now go and rock your training!
So what did I choose to do? I went for a simple run last week. Nothing fancy. I didn't even bring my GPS, because I didn't care about my speed or time. It was AMAZING to feel my lungs absorb the fresh oxygen outside. I felt the happy endorphines running through my body. I took a hot shower (with lots of coconut shower gel, my favorite), which lifted my spirit and relaxed my muscles.
The funny thing was, after my run I had no trouble picking a healthy dinner (in my case: chicken, string beans and potatoes with rosemary and black pepper). I wanted to take good care of my body again.
I was SO happy I changed my lazy day around. And I didn't feel guilty at all about eating those peanut butter cookies, because I know I balanced it out with my training. Hopefully you'll feel the same, when you use my tips to turn your lazy day around. GOOD LUCK!
