Smoked Salmon and Avocado Pizza

I’ve said it once, and I’ll say it again. Avocado works well with anything. In this recipe by CafeDelites, it is put together with smoked salmon on a pizza that will have you drooling. You can choose to prepare the base and eat the smoked salmon and avocado fresh, or you can pop it back into the oven to heat up all the ingredients and get some extra-cheesiness. Your pick. 😉 

Here’s what you need:

  • 4 tablespoons low fat or fat free cream cheese
  • 1 tablespoon fresh dill, finely chopped
  • 1 crushed clove of garlic
  • 1 wholewheat store bought pizza base (prepared), or a flour tortilla
  • 1 tablespoon of garlic olive oil
  • ½ red onion, finely sliced
  • ½ cup light/reduced fat grated mozzarella cheese
  • 100g smoked salmon
  • ½ an avocado, sliced thinly
  • a handful of fresh baby rocket/arugula
  • Lemon Pepper
  • ½ cup (optional) light/reduced fat grated mozzarella cheese

How to make it:

  1. First, preheat your oven to 200C | 390F.
  2. In a small bowl, combine the cream cheese with the dill and the crushed garlic. Mix well.
  3. Drizzle the olive oil onto the pizza base and spread with the cream cheese mixture. Top with the onion rings and the mozzarella cheese and bake in the oven for 10 minutes or until the mozzarella has melted through.
  4. Remove from oven; top with the salmon and avocado slices and rocket/arugula leaves. Sprinkle with lemon pepper and serve, or top with the (extra) cheese and place back into the oven to warm the avocado and salmon through.

When was the last time you really felt like having sex? I don’t mean to be rude, but if you have to think too long about this question, your libido might be in hibernation. Obviously you are not always ready to rumble, but did you know that eating specific kinds of food can boost your sex drive? Add these super sexy foods to your shopping list, and you’ll feel sexier than ever.

These are foods for a great sex drive

  • Salmon and mackerel

The omega-3 fatty acids found in oily fish is your best friend when it comes to your blood circulation. This is essential for the supply of blood to your genitals (and thus increases the excitement down there). They can also increase (feelgood) dopamine levels in your brain – that enhance your lust.

  • Steak

Did you ever hear about Steak & Blowjobday (the Valentine’s Day for men)?  The link between steak and blow jobs? Probably because steak is a rich source of zinc, the same nutrient which oysters owe their reputation to. Namely zinc boosts testosterone and reduces the production of prolactin, a hormone that has a negative effect between the sheets.

  • Eggs

Breakfast in bed? Choose an omelet. The proteins in eggs will boost your energy- and focus level – two things that always come in handy. Plus eggs are a good source of vitamin B6, which helps balance your hormone levels and thus regulate your libido.

  • Unsweetened cranberry juice

It not only helps to prevent cystitis, but cranberry juice is a natural diuretic, which is very effective if you suffer from a bloated stomach. Put a few tablespoons unsweetened cranberry juice in a glass of water and drink up!

  • Chocolate

Everybody knows, that chocolate is the answer, no matter what the question is.  And this example proves it once again: chocolate is a proven aphrodisiac and contains a lot of magnesium, which makes you more relaxed. And you probably already knew that de-stressing is crucial to get in the mood. But dark chocolate (at least 70% cocoa) also contains phenylethylamine (PEA), which releases the same hormones as hot and steamy love making.

  • Oatmeal

A while ago we shared some delicious oatmeal recipes with you. These recipes are also a big reason to start eating oatmeal for breakfast. But I’ll give you another reason to swap your cheese sandwich for a bowl of oatmeal in the morning. Oats contain L-arginine, a substance that is sometimes used to treat erection problems. AND it stimulates the blood supply to the clitoris. Pretty fucking awesome, right?

  • Peach and nectarine

These fruits are full of vitamin C, which several studies have shown that those increase the female libido. It’s also good for the blood flow and thus for your sex drive.

Healthy snack plate

People coming over for a drink, movie or just to chat a bit? You want to give them a snack and enjoy a the snacks yourself without cheating. It’s hard to be a good host and try not to be too unhealthy at the same time. Here is a bit more fun and healthier way to treat your guest without the great classics like potato chips, fat cheeses or salted nuts. My selection for a healthy snack plate.

Salmon Sashimi. Very simple. Buy a piece of raw salmon (you don’t need a big chunk, about 150 grams for 3 to 4 people). Cut the salmon in small slices and top them with sesame seeds.

Seaweed-Tuna-Kale rolls. Open a can of tuna and add wasabi and olive oil (as much as you like). It’s around two or three tablespoons of the tuna mix on one roll. Top it with a little bit of kale and roll it up!!

IMG_8908Lentils with spinach and stock. Lentils are a great source of healthy carbs. They are very filling and are rich in protein at the same time. You can buy these in a can or cook them fresh. I used a can this time, because I was a bit in a rush. If you use fresh lentils you need to let them soak for a long time. Cook the lentils until they are warm and soft. Add two to three hands per can of fresh spinach. To add taste I used a stock cube chicken flavoured. If you do not want to use that, flavour it with salt and pepper.

Crushed chickpea’s with spinach and herbs. Chickpeas are a great source of healthy carbs too. Chickpeas are used to make falafel or veggie burgers (I made one last week teehee). Crus the chickpeas to small chunks and grill them in the pan together with fresh chopped spinach. If the chickpeas turn a bit goldenbrown add coriander or rosemary (what you prefer).

 

 

IMG_8909Grilled chicken stripes with Cajun. Cut a chicken breast in slices and marinate them with Cajun herbs. Grill them in the pan until they are well done.

 


Fresh Cucumber. 
This actually is also a classic. The fresh cucumber. Simply cut them in slices and crunch away! 😉

 

How to serve the food?

You can use small plates for everyone, or you prepare a big plate where everybody can snack from. Add small forks to eat, and small spoons to scoop.
